PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Marais initially provided pro-bono consulting services to assess the repair needs of this historic building. We were then selected as the structural engineer working alongside Albert Architecture to move forward with the building rehabilitation.
This project consists of two phases to restore and enhance a historic property on Villere Street between St. Bernard Avenue and Annette Street. The site was constructed in the 1880s and played a significant role in the early development of jazz in New Orleans. Today, the building is used as a church. Following Hurricane Ida, the structure sustained severe damage resulting in the destruction of everything except the façade. The first phase addresses the rehabilitation of the historic structure. The second phase supports the construction of an addition to the original building.
