STRUCTURAL
ENGINEER
JOB DESCRIPTION
Marais is seeking a Structural Engineer. As an experienced Structural Engineer, you will lead the planning, design, and construction of residential and small commercial renovations and new constructions as well as historic renovations/adaptive reuse projects. You will also mentor junior designers and assist with the development of construction documents (e.g., calculations, technical specifications, drawings) and construction oversight/administration. You will be open to developing creative designs and solutions with sustainability in mind and have the ability to design a project from start to finish. You will be comfortable communicating with architects, contractors, colleagues, and clients regularly.
For this role, Marais offers the freedom and flexibility to work in a hybrid office/remote setting.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• 5+ years of experience in Structural Engineering.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field (ABET Accredited).
• Knowledge and experience of structural engineering concepts, principles and practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
• Work well within a multidisciplinary team.
• Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
• Good working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD)
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience managing projects and junior staff
• Experience with wood-framed structures
• Knowledge of national building and construction codes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• PE license
• Experience with Revit
• Experience with civil site design
