PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project consists of roadway repairs for multiple sites located on the Fort Johnson Base in Louisiana. As part of the design-build team, Marais’s responsibilities include surveying, production of drawings for construction, permitting, erosion/drainage control plans, and ongoing services during construction.
For the survey component of the project, Marais is coordinating the survey and managing the on-site subconsultant. Survey includes a baseline and stationing along the roadways
Marais is developing a drainage model (including hydraulic analysis) to determine the design peak flow rates through roadside ditches and culverts in the project area in order to properly size the culverts that will be replaced. We are developing a set of construction drawings and specifications at progress review points to include plan views of the roadway extents and stationing, roadway dimensions, and paving work to be completed. Where intersections will be reconstructed, all new edges of roadway dimensions will be defined. Drawings will also include any drainage repairs needed including sizes, materials, inverts, and alignments of new culverts.
Marais is preparing repair plans for the three bridges will be included in the drawing set for those options. Repairs will be based on the recommendations outlined in the Bridge Inspection Reports provided by USACE. We will prepare permit documentation for DOTD, USACE, others if work on the bridge structure is needed or if the wetland area is impacted.
Marais is developing an erosion control plan and an initial SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan) for the project.
