PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Marais is collaborating with a team of designers to deliver structural design, civil design, and stormwater management solutions for a new building at the Harriet Tubman campus in New Orleans. The building, which will be modular and constructed offsite, is planned for an existing 96x160 parking lot. It will feature a site-fabricated truss roof, permanent site foundations, and a site-built entry deck/ramp. The structure is expected to be elevated by 3 to 3.5 feet, depending on the survey elevation. In addition to the building, the project includes the development of a new parking lot, a baseball diamond, and a soccer field on a large, vacant parcel nearby.
Marais is handling stormwater management and civil, structural design for the project. Given the project’s scale and location, we are ensuring that our stormwater management designs meet the City of New Orleans’ requirements and align with the property’s stormwater master plan. We will produce SWMP drawings for permitting and develop a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan to meet stormwater management regulations. The civil design scope includes site grading and utility planning, while the structural design focuses on the foundation of the pre-fabricated building.
